#1- Important 2002 - 2003 Fan News On Road Trips To Monarchs AWAY GAMES !
Subject . . . "Royal Road Warriors"
by Steve Englert

Hello Monarchs Fans!

The Monarchs second season is about to start and the excitement is building.  We’re all looking forward to supporting our team again this year.  We had a very good inaugural year and we hope to have an even better one this season.

Russ Cooper and I managed to put together one bus trip last season to Springfield and we all had a good time cheering our team to victory over the Falcons.  This year we’ve planned for up to 19 road trips that we believe will have a number of benefits.  First, eleven (11) of the games are with teams in our division so they’ll be critically important in our chase to the Calder Cup.  Second, fifteen (15) of the games are with teams in the New England area so the vast majority of the trips will be the same day.  Third, potentially if we take all of the trips, you will see nine (9) different AHL arenas.  Fourth, and maybe the most important, these trips will allow us to have some additional fun during the season while supporting our team when they’re on the road.

None of the trips in this 19 game schedule include Lowell.  We’re not planning on taking a bus (or buses) to the Lowell games due to it’s close proximity to Manchester but we are willing to organize the purchase of group tickets for those interested in attending games there.  This will give you a better price on the ticket and we’ll all be sitting together in the same area.  Please contact Russ or myself for details on the Lowell away games.

There are TWO potential overnight trips in the schedule.  The first is an over night trip is to St. John, New Brunswick, Canada.  This would be for a game with the Flames on a Saturday night, the day after they play the Monarchs here in Manchester.  We would go up Saturday morning and return on Sunday.  We have heard this is a really great trip.

The second is an exciting weekend trip to see the Hershey Bears and the Philadelphia Phantoms the first two days in March.  If enough people are interested the trip would allow us to see the Hershey chocolate business, tour a little of Philadelphia and see two great games with teams from Pennsylvania.  I’m really looking forward to this one!

We’re looking into the details for hotels on both trips.  Our goal is to find hotels that are affordable and decent.  For those that are interested in the overnight trips, please contact Russ or myself for further information.

We would like to see all these trips happen because they support our Manchester Monarchs and they’ll be a lot of fun for those who take them.  However, we realize that the trips depend completely on the support of the fans.  Because we don’t know what kind of response we’ll get for these trips we can’t guarantee that we’ll take any of them.  So the success of any of these road trips is up to you, the Monarchs fans.

For further information contact Russ Cooper at 603-624-9511 / coopsoxgm@aol.com or myself, Steve Englert 606-629-9629 / sfenglert@yahoo.com.  Thank you.

Our beloved Manchester Monarchs will soon be returning for their second exciting season of professional hockey. With their outstanding staff, led by President Jeff Eisenberg, it promises to be another outstanding and entertaining season.  I'm certain that the team would love nothing more than continued support from it's loyal fans.  Steve Englert and I are currently working on a list of possible road trips to show our support of the team.  We are planning on as many trips as possible, including possible overnight trips.  We successfully made one trip last season to Springfield and all enjoyed themselves.  The list and details are still being worked out. The information will be available to everyone as soon as possible.  I am currently compiling a "Royal Road Warrior" address and phone list of those  interested in following the team.  I am asking anyone and everyone who is interested to please email or call me with vital information so that I might be able to forward all information accordingly.

name
address
home phone, cell phone
e-mail address
number of people you expect to attend

The bus will hold 48 people and will be on a first come, first served basis, with a possible list of stand-by people in the event of cancellations.  If anyone has any questions at this point, feel free to contact me or Steve.  Further information will follow.  I hope to hear from you all soon.

P.S. The Lowell games will be tickets only as a group, not a bus trip, because of the close proximity to the Tsongas arena.
